A thing of beauty is a joy forever. These famous lines penned by Keats are applicable to the beautiful vintage creations of gleaming chrome, brass fittings and polished metal that are classic cars.

There is a small group of people in this world. A rarefied clique, a closed circle. A group of people who have made the collection and preservation of vintage and classic cars their grand passion. They are the select few who are able to provide a showcase of these beauties from a bygone era at classic car shows for the present day audience to appreciate and understand.

In a way these automobiles represent the drive and inventiveness of the human mind that refused to be cowed by historical upheavals or financial constraints. Style, speed, convenience, these were the buzzwords for a plethora of inventors and car companies that tried their best to combine elegance with convenience on roads around the world. These classic car shows are a salute to the spirit of these individuals and their inventions which are the precursors of the classic car models and the raison d’etre of classic car shows.

Websites like www.carshowclassic.com are a boon to those individuals who want to be in the loop as far as car shows, classic car model information, videos, pictures, user information all of this is concerned. There are several classic car shows that are a must-do on the annual calendars of the classic car show aficionado… The Silverstone Classic, the Annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance, the Goodwood Revival the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance …the list goes on and the calendar is always choc a bloc. Sites like these keep the enthusiasts posted about makes, conditions, prices and availability of the classic car models.

The classic car enthusiast is a niche segment that is being catered to but the website that is comprehensive, informative and user friendly as well as being accessible to all. Even the casual browser will definitely pause….and admire.

What to expect at the Silverstone Classic

Motorsport and music fans will rejoice at the prospect of the Silverstone Classic 2010 which is taking “rocking and racing” as its theme with a line-up of historic car races and top musical talent. More than 80,000 spectators are expected at the event in Northamptonshire with more than 100 classic car clubs displaying over 5,000 cars at the event. There will also be the opportunity to see many of these vehicles in action with 700 rare classic racers – worth in excess of £100million – expected to be driven either by their owners or as part of the races. According to the organisers, each decade will be represented from the 1930s to the 1990s including GP, Le Mans, sports and touring cars. There will also be an auction of cars and memorabilia and an eight-heat “street car shootout” with a selection of cars, two at a time, side by side, racing along a standard quarter-mile track. Many celebrities are also expected to attend the proceedings and there will be a celebrity race with drivers unfamiliar with the world of motor racing parading their skills (or lack thereof). Formula One fans will feel at home too as there will be a celebration of 60 years of the Formula One World Championship including three high-quality grids on the GP circuit that spans the entire 60 years. There will also be an Under Two Litre Touring Car Race, a pre-163 GT event; a Formula Junior Race; the World Sportscar Masters featuring pre-1974 vehicles; the Masters Gentleman Driver race for pre-1966 GT cars; the HSCC Historic Road Sports race with classic marquees; and the Italian Historic Car Cup for pre-1974 Italian sports and GT cars.
